Revenue of the world's top ten packaging and testing companies in the first quarter reached 7.17 billion US dollars

According to TrendForce, in the first quarter of 2021, the top ten packaging and testing companies in the world have a combined revenue of 7.17 billion U.S. dollars, an annual increase of 21.5%. Most companies have shown double-digit revenue growth, mainly due to new technologies such as remote office and teaching. Normal life has taken shape. After Europe and the United States began to vaccinate, the epidemic appeared to be alleviated. The city was gradually unblocked, coupled with the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, so that the demand for IT products, TV, 5G communications, vehicles, etc. will not fall. Since the second half of 2020, the factory has been actively stocking up, which has made the supply of semiconductor capacity tight. Packaging and testing companies have gradually increased prices in response to strong customer demand, thereby boosting the overall packaging and testing revenue performance in the first quarter of 2021.

TrendForce Specially pointed out that the end customers are worried about the shortage of goods last year, coupled with the high transportation cost and prolonged time, which caused the doubt of overstocking. However, some countries have shown signs of a slight slowdown in the epidemic situation after vaccination. The relevant government plans to gradually unblock them and resume normal work and learning. Therefore, it is expected that terminal demand will be met in advance, and demand in the third quarter may decline. Slow down the overall stocking momentum or suddenly reduce orders, etc., which may affect the revenue performance of the packaging and testing industry at that time.

In the first quarter of 2021, the leading packaging and testing companies, ASE and Amkor, had revenues of US$16.9 billion and US$1.33 billion, representing an annual increase of 24.6% and 15.0%. ASE has gradually strengthened and increased the supply of wiring for laptops, Netcom and server chips, maintaining the compatibility of traditional and advanced packaging. Amkor focuses on the development of advanced packaging, and actively promotes it in the high-end packaging market such as 5G, automotive and laptops, ranking second.

As for the slower growth momentum of Silicon Products (SPIL) and Power Engineering (PTI), the main reason is that the filling effect of Huawei's ban after the third quarter of 2020 has slowed down and the production capacity adjustment of memory customers. The revenue is 8.6 and 6.5 respectively. Billion US dollars, an annual increase of 6.4% and 3.5%. In addition, KYEC's revenue this quarter was US$270 million, an annual increase of 15.2%, gradually stepping out of the haze of the ban, and overall revenue continued to be strong.

The three males in mainland China, Jiangsu Changjiang Electronics (JCET), Tongfu Microelectronics (TFME) and Tianshui Hua Tian (Hua Tian), have promoted China's domestic automotive chips, memory, 5G base stations and panels under the goal of increasing domestic and independent production. The demand for driver IC and other packaging has risen sharply, and revenue has risen to 10.3, 5.0 and 400 million US dollars, respectively. The first two have increased by 26.3% and 62.0% annually. Tianshui Huatian has the highest growth rate in the top ten with an annual growth rate of 64.9%. enterprise.

On the other hand, Chipbond and ChipMOS, the leading manufacturers of panel driver IC chip packaging and testing, benefited from the large increase in demand for large-size panels and flat panels, automotive displays, and other small- and medium-size panels for TV and IT products. Demand for chip-on-film (COF) packaging continues to be strong, and Nanmao’s demand for DRAM and Flash memory has turned strong, bringing both revenues close to 230 million US dollars, with annual growth rates of 22.3% and 27.3%, respectively .
