Nordic's nRF9160 SiP is making LTE technology accessible for a wide range of applications and developers. It solves the complex wireless design challenges and possesses a comprehensive set of qualifications that are needed to utilize cellular technology through high integration and pre-certification for global operation.

The nRF9160 offers a compact solution for cellular IoT (cIoT) by integrating an application MCU, a full LTE modem, a receiver front-end (RF), and power management in a 10 mm x 16 mm x 1 mm package. It includes a variant with built-in GPS support and targets asset tracking applications. The combination of location data from the cellular network with GPS satellite trilateration allows remote monitoring of the device position.

The nRF9160 SiP features a globally compatible LTE modem supporting the bands in the US (B2, B4, B5, B12, and B13) and EU/APAC (B3, B8, B20, and B28).

Additionally, this SiP has an integrated Arm® Cortex®-M33 central processing unit (CPU) and features Arm TrustZone and Arm CryptoCell security technology. It includes a broad range of digital and analog interfaces and peripherals for single device design possibilities. The necessary modem firmware, real-time operating system (RTOS), application software examples, and hardware reference designs are all provided to implement a full cellular IoT design.
